Healthcare Management System with Cloud Migration
Cloud-based healthcare management platform for a hospital chain, replacing legacy systems with a modern, integrated solution across 5 facilities.
The Challenge
Sanjivani's legacy system was over 12 years old, running on Windows desktop clients with a local SQL Server database at each facility. Patient records were siloed by location, meaning a patient visiting multiple Sanjivani facilities had separate records at each one, leading to duplicated tests, incomplete medical histories, and fragmented care.
The system lacked any patient-facing features. Appointments were booked by phone, reports were collected in person, and billing was done at discharge counters. Administrative staff spent hours on manual data entry and reconciliation between systems. The IT team struggled to maintain the aging infrastructure, and the vendor had discontinued support.
Sanjivani needed a modern, cloud-based system that could unify patient records across all facilities, support telemedicine consultations, provide patient self-service capabilities, and scale as they planned to add two more facilities in the coming years.
Our Solution
Omeecron designed a comprehensive cloud migration strategy that included building the new platform, migrating historical patient data from all five facilities, and training over 200 clinical and administrative users.
The new platform includes modules for patient registration and unified medical records, outpatient and inpatient management, appointment scheduling with online booking, electronic prescriptions and order management, laboratory and radiology integration, billing with insurance and TPA integration, telemedicine with video consultation capability, and a patient mobile app for appointments, reports, and health records.
Data migration involved cleaning and deduplicating over 800,000 patient records from five separate databases into a unified system. We used a combination of automated matching algorithms and manual review for complex cases to achieve 99.7% record matching accuracy. The migration was executed facility by facility over six weekends to minimize disruption to clinical operations.
Project Overview
Sanjivani Healthcare Group operates five healthcare facilities including two hospitals, two specialty clinics, and a diagnostic laboratory across Gujarat. Their legacy management system, a Windows-based application installed locally at each facility, had become a major operational bottleneck. Omeecron built a cloud-based healthcare management platform and migrated all five facilities onto a unified system, improving care coordination, operational efficiency, and patient experience.
Technical Approach
The platform was built as a cloud-native application deployed on AWS Mumbai region, using Laravel for the backend API, React for the clinical and administrative interfaces, and a Flutter app for patient-facing features. The architecture follows healthcare data security best practices with end-to-end encryption, role-based access control, and comprehensive audit logging. The system integrates with diagnostic equipment via HL7 FHIR standards and connects with government health portals for required reporting.
